Susie's Producer is a pal of mine. Heck, Lonnie Ratliff and I even writ a song together. When I first heard: "COWBOY JAZZ"--whacked me aside the head with a 2 X 4!!! I couldn't get over the Lass' vocal range. More than one octave, thass for sure.

A very fine job was done on this track. The track should have a very long shelf life.

Susie Hopman ~ Cowboy Jazz

The CD opens with  How Come You Go To Her  and with the Jim Unger fiddle dancing in and out of the track it is easy to tell this is not going to be a paint by numbers Nashville album.

Track # 2  Here Comes Trouble  written by the late Ron Davies is a perfect vehicle for Susie's vocals with Perley Curtis's dobro and T.J. Klay's harmonica giving it an odd little acoustic feel that seems to fit the song and Susie perfectly.

 The Night Has No Mercy  is a big ballad that gets sung big time.  Susie sings this song with the confidence that comes from living the song's lyrics somewhere back along the path that brought her to where she is today. 

The 4th. track  That Hits The Spot  would have been called a positive uptempo love song a decade ago and I would have to say that is still a pretty good discription today. Good cut on this song.

The title song  Cowboy Jazz  is one of those songs that sounds like it has been around a hundred years even though it is actually a new song.  Hats off to the songwriters, you did your job.  We hope you like what we did with your song.

 Surround Me With Love  is  # 6 and I love Susie's vocals on this tune.  The harmonica drifting in and out adds a nice flavor also.

Cut # 7  Lately  Susie delivers this song with all the attitude it calls for and then some.

 You Got Me Looking comes from Canadian songwriters, Keith & Lana Floen along with Thomas Allen Ross and it definately has the potential to be a big record some day.  With the right breaks Susie Hopman's version could take it there.

Cut # 9  Brand New Day  is one of those songs that just makes you feel good everytime you hear it.  Susie's vocals and Dennis Wage's piano part both work the magic that makes it happen.

 Radio Heart  has always been one of my favorite country songs and Susie's cover of this Charley McClain tune just reassures me I have good taste in country music.

Cut # 11  Something's Out There  If I had to pick a "Sleeper" from this CD it would have to be this song.  All the parts are there and they are all working together the way they are supposed to.

Susie closes out the CD with a song from Texas songwriter Johnny Mears  I Was Wearing White  This one don't sound like anything I have ever heard before.  It is one of those, close your eyes and watch the movie songs.   I would buy the CD just to get this song but the nice part about being the producer is Susie gave me a free CD and I am quite proud of it.
