The year was 1979 in the sunny island of Jamaica,at the grand finals of the Tastee Talent Series,In Kingston, a young man named Horace Martin was placed third behind a young Nadine Sutherland and Paul Blake of the Blood Fire Posse.
Horace was born on May 5, in Kingston, Jamaica, started singing at age 12 and recorded his first song at age 14, entitled, Beautiful Dream.
After many top ten hits and four albums later, Horace Martin has become a household name to many not only in Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean, but also in Europe, America and Canada. Some of his many hits are as follows, I Will Follow You, Shock Mi a Shock, Lazy Body, Africa Is Calling and Watermelon Man. His albums are Mix Up, Shock Out Martin, Watermelon Man, Alcatraz and Pozitive Vibez. He was awarded the male singer of the year in 1995 by the Canadian Reggae Music Award.
