Album Notes

"The CD is all horns, nothing else, and nothing else is needed...tight as a drum but still with butt stank and grease. It's definitely worth your while to add the CD to your collection." "St. Paul" Peterson - producer, singer/songwriter, bassist "...very cool, no doubt about it...excellent playing." Ben Sidran - jazz artist "...exhilarating...excellent and unique writing and performance." Bob Freedman - jazz producer and arranger This group of extraordinarily talented horn players has been gathering international acclaim from artists and critics alike, since 1991. Top session players all, members of the Hornheads have performed and/or recorded with artists such as Prince, Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart, Babyface, James Brown, Jimmy Jam, Aretha Franklin, Pedro Abrunhosa, Louie Bellson, Lenny Kravitz, Ray Charles, Maceo Parker, Sammy Davis Jr., Clark Terry , Dizzy Gillespie, Tony Bennett, Doc Severinsen, and many others. While members of Prince and the NPG (1991-2000), the Hornheads recorded on more than 20 CDs and performed for over 2 million concert goers in 20 countries. Q Magazine, London, described them as a "peerless horn section...playing in bare brilliant syncopation, punching with staccato precision beyond science or synclavier. Prince splashes their insouciant versatility all over the set list."

Awesome Musicianship!
author: Lynelle, saxophonist
I will admit, I bought Hornheads CD's because of the woman sax player - hey, we've got to stick together! I am a proud new addict! All are great players, great soloists. The rhythm they genereate in the solo accompaniment is amazing. Every soloist has a distinctive voice, yet they all communicate. They have a sense of time that I have never heard in an instrumental ensemble that does not use a rhythm section. The arrangements use the full ability of all of the instruments. Any arranger should have Hornheads CD's in his/her library. Way to go - I will be following, and may have to road trip to Minneapolis for a concert!
