The roots of the Horse Cave Trio run deep. As far back as you can trace American Music, you will find the roots of the Trio. The Horse Cave trio play what many have come to call "blues-fueled rockabilly". The band combine a lot of influences to create a sound that is totally original and yet very familiar.
The Horse Cave Trio formed in the fall of 2002. Ron DeVore had achieved success on the West Coast, Europe and Australia with his hard rockin' band Empty Set. DeVore, A true rockabilly devotee, was looking to form a straight-ahead rock-n-roll trio that would perform and record original roots rock. Ron Found the perfect partner in guitarist Lou Simon, a veteran of the Detroit music scene who has recorded and performed with several well known acts, including Jimmie Bones and the Graverobbers.
The Horse Cave Trio were named for the small town in Kentucky where DeVore parents were from. The HCT performed in Horse Cave at the annual Horse Cave Heritage Festival in September 2005. Their performance was filmed for the upcoming reality show "Small Towm Makeover".
The group released it's first full length CD entitled "Hot Rods, Choppers & Rock'n'Roll" on the Austin, Tx based Tropic Lightning label in 2004. The follow up to this successful debut is the 2006 release of "CURB SERVICE" on Embassy Hotel Records. The disc features 11 brand new original tunes which travel the American lanscape from rockabilly to gospel to country to the blues and all places in between.

I honestly first was drawn to this cd-not only because I love Rockabilly, but also because of the Trio\'s name. Having spent time in and around Horse Cave, Kentucky I was intrigued. Reading the review of this cd in one of the rod magazines also spurred-on my purchase. :) I wasn\'t disappointed! My reason for 4/5 stars, is simply because of the mix of styles that I found on the cd. That\'s not a bad thing, but wasn\'t entirely what I would think of when I think Rockabilly. Every song was great, it just took a little getting used to being amped up on one song, and then having to switch gears on the next... Can\'t wait for the next cd!
