musically lush, lyrically introspective, harkens back to the days of The Beatles and CSN, that when the record was over you'd want to play it again.

notes
MIDNIGHT GHOST is the solo offering by TRAIN's ROB HOTCHKISS.
The former lead singer of L.A.-based APOSTLES, Hotchkiss subsequently met Pat Monahan, and the two of them formed TRAIN in the mid-90's. After three records, which have sold a combined 5 million copies worldwide and put a Grammy on Hotchkiss' mantle (for "Drops Of Jupiter" - which won Best Rock Song of 2001), not to mention performances on David Letterman, Jay Leno, etc. - and touring with the likes of Matchbox 20, Dave Matthews, Sheryl Crow, and Aerosmith - Hotchkiss has gone off on his own to create, in his words, "the record I've always wanted to make. Finally something I can be one hundred percent proud of!"
MIDNIGHT GHOST was produced by Hotchkiss and Jerry Becker - with the help of Tom Schick (whose engineering credits include BOB DYLAN, RYAN ADAMS, and SHAWN COLVIN). It was recorded at The River House in Southern Washington, with drummer Steve Bowman (the original drummer for COUNTING CROWS), with one track recorded by current Counting Crow, Dave Bryson.
"It's impossible to explain,' says Hotchkiss, 'just how magical the whole experience was!" The best way for someone else to understand what he's getting at would be to experience the record. "I'm most proud when I hear people say that it's a RECORD, not just a collection of songs!" Though not a concept record, it's come to be considered a record you'll want to put back on once it's finished. "For me there're only a handful of records I'd put in that category! That's the biggest compliment I can get!" beams Hotchkiss.
Having given up the gruelling ten-months-out-of-the-year touring schedule he had with Train, Hotchkiss has settled down in the Northwest to be able to spend more time with his family, and to "spend more time MAKING music, and less time PEDDLING music!" That being said, Hotchkiss does consider getting out of the house to do some select live shows. Since we're counting on word-of-mouth to propel this record (MIDNIGHT GHOST will only be available on-line), people should either tell all their friends, or buy a couple hundred themselves (lol), as we'd be most likely to play live in locales where more people already know the music.
"Having gotten the chance to play at the Grammy's (Train's been nominated for 7 Grammy Awards) was a dream. Being handed the award by Don Henley was even more surreal. But for me, the real fun starts now. MIDNIGHT GHOST is exactly how I wanted it to be. From the recording of the first note, to sticking a label on a package that's on its way to Anywhere, USA - it's all me. If that's not satisfying; if that's not success, then I don't know what is!"

Packed with heart! Great music that seeps in and stays...
author: Robin BrantleyPacked with heart, this is great new music that seeps in and stays! Rob's smooth and sometimes haunting tones are reminiscent of the great John Lennon and Neil Finn (Crowded House). This record wraps the listener in warm emotion, taking you from light acoustic romps through "It's Alright" to more gripping beats and messages in songs like "Golden" and "Try". Only the best instrumentation would do to achieve the timeless quality they must have been after in the studio (listen...it's beautiful!), yet it remains fresh in it's own skin. After hearing Midnight Ghost, it is easy to understand why this grammy-winning artist will continue to be a strong presence in the music industry. Don't miss THIS train comin' down the tracks!!!
