Album Notes

Hotrod Cadets - distressed guitar pop from Glasgow, Scotland.

Hotrod Cadets are Glasgow's newest purveyors of distressed guitar pop. Sounding like The Proclaimers meets The Pixies, they combine irresistible melodies, edgy guitars and lyrics with a dark twist.

Currently gigging their new album "Breaking Up" round Glasgow and beyond, Hotrod Cadets have enjoyed radio play in Scotland and across the USA. We have featured on several podcasts, as well as receiving coverage in national newspapers.

Hotrod Cadets make music for music lovers. If you like catchy tunes and lyrics worth listening to, you'll love our new album, "Breaking Up".

It's a collection of ten original guitar-based pop songs, with the emphasis on melody and harmony, plus lyrics worth reading.

The subject matter varies from forgiveness and revenge, through regret and misplaced faith, to wasted opportunities and the fear of death. There's also a bubblegum-pop love song in "Excellent Girl".

Described by one reviewer as "gentle songs with secret muscle", Breaking Up combines catchy tunes with darker lyrics to create an immediately accessible album that rewards repeated listening.

Here's what other people say about "Breaking Up":

"exhilarating", "it sounds exuberant about heartbreak, and the song soars", "you can find some of yourself in the voice on Breaking Up - it's singing songs for all of us" - Paul Ferguson

"An across the board hit", "The songs are strong pieces of work and all of the performances are unpretentious, emotionally revealing, and have an incandescent urgency that I find very compelling" - John Bonner

"fantastic album, the lyrics are really deep and speak volumes " - Erika Bird
