The new full-length "You Should Know Better By Now" from Maryland pop-rock band Hotspur picks up where their 2006 release "Beta" left off, with soaring hooks, playful keyboard lines and boundless dance-floor energy--but with an added intensity, cohesiveness and maturity, while still creating experience centered around the idea of rock music being a fun time. Produced by Bryan Russell (Envy on the Coast, Straylight Run) and mixed by Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, Senses Fail), "YSKBBN" showcases Hotspur doing what they do best; dramatic and heartfelt melodies over broad soundscapes with crunchy pop-songwriting cores.
Leading off the album is the single "Chandelier," a moody hook-laden track with intricate piano work and clever lyrics. The tracks vary between dance-floor stompers ("Never Asked For Love," "You Should Know Better By Now") and arena-sized anthems ("$$$," "Alphabetic File") but also show off their writing chops with ballad tracks like "Too Young" and "Heads/Tails."
