Hound Dog Hill is a six piece neo-traditional string band from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Founded in 2003 by a young banjo player and singer named Cutch Tuttle, these boys make music the old time way, using all acoustic instruments and drawing influence from the Valley's rich musical heritage. In the five years they have been playing together, Hound Dog Hill has evolved into a high energy string band that plays the kind of music rarely heard today. They have been featured on several radio and tv stations across the valley, including WHSV TV 3, WVLS Appalachian Radio, WXJM 88.1, & WTJU 91.1. In 2006, they released "Twisted Sneergrass", a self produced CD retrospective that displays their collective drive and talent. The Hound Dog Hill boys have played County Fairs, Bar rooms, BBQ's, Festivals, and all kinds of benefits and gatherings, and always, ALWAYS puts on a great show. In the summer of 2007, Hound Dog Hill was awarded several awards, including 1st place Best Original Song at the Appalachian Sting Band Festival in Clifftop, West Virginia, along with 2nd Place Neo-Traditional Band. In 2008 they were awarded 1st Place Old TIme Band at the Maury River Fiddler's Convention in Buena Vista, Virginia Everywhere they travel in their 1985 converted church bus they are met with praise from the people who love the ancient tones and old time music most. Catch this band sometime or better yet, book them for your next event! "Born in Virginia" is their sophomore release, and captures the Hound Dog Hill with reckless abandon.
