Album Notes

It sometimes happens that bands write their best songs early in their career. However, the House Jacks 2003 CD -- their first with wholly original material in several years -- proves that those generalities don't apply here. Maturity can be a good thing! "Unbroken" contains their best writing since, well, maybe ever, with compositions from every member (including Austin Willacy, who's back). After months in the studio between touring jaunts all around the world, the House Jacks have released their new CD "Unbroken" to the world at large.

With their own version of a "concept album" The House Jacks
give us more reasons to respect and revere their songwriting and vocal capabilities! From the opening gothic-flavored introduction of Bert Bacco's "More Love", you know you're in for something different. The strength of their material shows that marriage and family can contribute in positive ways to artistic development, as in Deke Sharon's joyous nod to fatherhood, "Adventure Day." The vocal chops of the Jacks have always been at the top of the upper echelon, but now their performances are translating to CD with new passion. Part of the credit is due to the production - it's BIG. So every nuance of those trademark harmonies shines through, and the vocal bass and drum tones are brilliant. With influences like The Beatles, XTC, and audible shades of The English Beat and The Clash, this one's a definite musical treat.

Take, for example, the title track by Carroll/Bonorris: it's powerful, evocative, and could match anything heard on modern rock radio. The House Jacks early promise was just a taste of things to come. Find out when they are playing near you at www.housejacks.com.

Awesome!

Wow. I keep thinking, "What a great rock album." And then I remember it's all acapella, every last sound, and that just astounds me. "More Love" is taut and well-written, and the overall theme keeps that edgy, thoughtful feel. "Good Things" brings the playfulness the House Jacks have always had; each line is a advertising catchphrase, because hey, they bring good things to life. The title track raises goosebumps and forever clinches the House Jacks as high-caliber talents. Wow.
