The House of Soul Band represents the culmination of twelve years of challenges, struggles, victories and defeats. The ability to weather the storm and keep momentum and enthusiasm has contributed to the survival of this eleven-piece soul machine. With the inevitable personnel transitions that take place with large musical units, House of Soul is a testament to the legacy of survival and persistence. The band has developed a unique and personal style that has attracted an international following in the city of Pittsburgh.
Voted the #1 R&B band in Pittsburgh for several years, House of Soul has gained the valuable and necessary experience to approach the national music scene. The songs on this CD are SLAMMIN'! Three beautiful ballads as well as medium and up-tempo selections give our listeners the ingredients for a soulful musical experience for those that love the funky sounds of the 70's and 80's as well as the visionary listener of the new millennium.
There is something for everyone.! The recording sessions produce musical results and feelings that these eleven musicians are passionate about writing and performing music of substance. The future musical path of the House of Soul band is the creation, rejuvenation and further development of the funky sound. The combination of Hendrix-like guitar playing, the precision of the horn section, the pulsating and pumping rhythms of keyboard and drums, the smooth, yet devastating bass lines and the vocal flair for showmanship and impeccable timing make House of Soul a band that sounds like more than eleven members. A twelve-year relationship with Rosebud nightclub (a relationship that continues to this day) as the premier act for their Saturday entertainment has proven to be a premium hotspot in Pittsburgh.
