Days Gone By

by Howie Campbell

A nostalgic treatment of the empty nest in an acoustic setting with bass, drums and a wailing harmonica in the distance. "An empty swing ... an empty home ... but they can come back still." It will make you weep with fond memories.

Feeling rather melancholy one day, I stepped out the back door and saw my grandson's swing hanging in the Chestnut tree. I thought, "it won't be long before he's too big for that swing." Then I thought, "it won't be long before he's not even coming around much anymore." So as I went back inside I walked past my son's 'empty' room. One thing led to another and "Days Gone By" was born.

The swing on the cover is the actual swing, tree and yard. The other picture is Debbie and me with our four delightful grandchildren.

Thanks to Debbie for believing in me all these years, and to my children and grandchildren for providing excellent song material. I love you guys soooo much.

Days Gone BY
A great song expressing the feelings of those of us whose children have grown up and moved out!
