The Howler's are a band of seasoned, blues veterans from Berkeley, California.
Their lengthy credentials include extensive club experience in the Bay Area as well as member's performances at the Fillmore Auditorium and touring with Big Mama Thornton.
Their debut CD, The Howlers versus the Blues Police, showcases their unique style; funky, complex, always interesting and innovative; their music is Blues and R&B influenced by jazz, be-bop, soul, rock and even reggae stylings.
The Howlers play the Blues their own way, no matter what the Blues Police say! The Blues Police are Blues "purists" who keep the Blues on a tight leash, afraid it will die due to "outside" influences.
But they're wrong, the Blues will continue to grow.
The Howlers demonstrate that growth and the ever-lasting vitality of the Blues in this CD release!

A very tight, seasoned blues band that knows how it's done!
author: The Blues Groove
"...This is a very tight,
seasoned blues band that knows how it's
done...Oakland is a tough, hard assed town with some blues to sing.
These guys can do it. This CD has spent about three weeks on my player. The "Blues Police" (track #1) is a really strong opener.

"...Buick '59 was well done in a retro way, with a good sax solo; the music on Ten Commandments was good, with a strong, distorted rock-blues guitar. Good solos all around. I also liked the playing on Thrill Me, but generally felt good about the musicianship all around. Bill Mentz's vocals
ranged from good to quite good, with nice pitches and good control..."
