Listen to eight of the most powerful speeches on this historic CD, made by outstanding Americans, who moot the ideology of true Americanism.
The 1920s were truly ‘happening’ years in the United States. The Great War and the depression were a thing of the past and the future held promises of unprecedented prosperity. Opinions were strongly divided about America’s proposed participation in the League of Nations. In the early 20s, President Warren Harding called on all Americans to unite and participate in rebuilding the nation.
While tireless efforts at putting the country back on its feet continued from within, America did not forget her commitment to restoration and maintenance of world peace. Despite her decision to desist from becoming a member of the League of Nations, America remained at the forefront of extensive efforts at disarmament during the 1920s. Conferences were held and treaties signed which limited the tonnage of naval vessels, thus addressing the prime cause of World War I. Sadly, the country overcame the fallout of the Great War and the first economic depression only to be confronted by another World War and economic crisis in less than two decades.
This CD presents a rare insight into the politics of the times, using some of the most memorable speeches made by dignitaries and politicians of this unforgettable era.
Eight outstanding political speeches made by a diverse lot of people, that includes an Irish-American freedom fighter, the Chief of Staff of the US Army, a poetess and a US President, are presented here. These speeches paint a vivid political picture of the early 20s and underline the need for national rebuilding. Featured on this fabulous CD are speeches by the following personalities:
Irish freedom fighter, Eamonn DeValera (3 speeches)
Chief of Staff of the US Army, Leonard Wood (2 speeches)
US President Warren, G. Harding, and (2 speeches)
Poetess, Corinne Robinson
EDITORIAL REVIEWS
Although audio recordings are hardly ever looked upon as sources of information, this CD demonstrates how true this can be. Political speeches are among the best comments on a country’s state of affairs - highlighting issues of great concern and applauding noteworthy achievements. They also encapsulate a country’s dreams and highlight its failures.
The years following World War I had people guessing about which way America was headed and what her priorities should be. Many thought the leaders should focus on matters of national interest rather than meddle with the affairs of faraway European countries. These were trying time for leaders and representatives of the people as much as for the man on the streets. The speeches on this CD provide an insight into how the country coped with these difficult times. Featured here are eight fabulously crafted speeches, which are undeniably rich in language and content and strong in convictions. The audio quality is superb despite the passing of many years and we have a classic example of how advanced sound recording techniques have come to the rescue of invaluable historic data.
For all those who harbor a desire to listen first hand to their national heroes and those with a yearning for historical insight, this CD is a must have!

"No written word could even hope to come near the emotions and passions heard in these speeches, made by some of our past leaders, on the trials and tribulations of every American during the difficult years from 1920s to 1940s. A2zcds are doing a great job in preserving the spoken word for generations to come."
