Album Notes

HB Sol the Policy King has been described by many as that special, once-in-a-lifetime emcee--gritty, yet intelligent; witty, yet upfront and brutally candid; smooth, yet fiery; universal, yet straight from the block. Known by many aliases, H is an artist that brings that rare combination of lyricism, substance, style and entertainment to the forefront of hip-hop music. Influenced by both his father and grandfather artistically, music and poetry have always been key parts of his life, and he has used his connection to these two art forms to illustrate his vivid, and uncompromisingly honest accounts of coming-of-age in the streets of Westside, Chicago. His love affair with music and art began with studying guitar at age six. After being introduced to the wonderful world of hip-hop through movies such as Wildstyle, Beat Street, Breakin\' and Krush Groove as well as songs like The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, HB Sol\'s passion for music, art and poetry transformed into a canvas that he would use to tell his many life triumphs, trials, and tribulations. His love for hip hop culture also led to an impressive array of experience within the music industry on an amateur level---including DJ\'ing and hosting college radio hip-hop shows, hosting poetry sets and live performance shows in both upstate and downstate Illinois, entering several open mic and freestyle competitions throughout the Chicago land area, performing at various venues and events throughout Chicago land and recording several classic, unreleased hip hop projects. HB Sol\'s musical mission is to bring to you his synthesis of audio-urban street cinema with spiritual and social wisdom he has gained for a completely mentally and emotionally satisfying listening experience. Competition, beware and hip hop fans worldwide, take heed. The Policy King has arrived- All Hail!
