Album Notes

We are Heart Strings. Marg Chauvin and Bill Messer.
We live way down south in Lantana, Florida and find hurricanes give you plenty of inspiration for new tunes. Now, Heart Strings has been around for over 20 years playing at private parties, weddings, funerals, hospitals, nursing homes, and folk festivals; in short anywhere someone will listen.

Our music is wide ranging and we both play several instruments which is required when the genre ranges from old-time to classical. What instruments? Thought you’d never ask, well here they are in no special order. Banjo, bass, concertina, fiddle, guitar, harp, mandolin, penny whistle, percussion.

But “Over There” is narrow focus; it is a collection of traditional Scottish and Irish instrumental tunes. The instrumentation is Celtic Harp and Guitar. The harp was built by Steve Green of Steen Harps. The Guitar was built by Huss & Dalton. Both are wonderfully toned instruments that come alive with Celtic music.

We are certain that many of the tunes on the CD are familiar, ones you have come to know and love, while others will be a new experience. Not wanting to bore the ear, the tunes are varied in style and drama; the order usually alternates between solo harp and harp/guitar duet.

What are their credentials to make a Celtic CD?
A wonderful question!
-- Marg is a Master Scottish Harper and consistently places 1st in Scottish Harp Competitions.
-- As a duet, they have finished 1st in the group class at Scottish Harp Competitions.
-- Regular session participants in West Palm Beach and Delray Beach.
-- Celtic Festival regulars with repeat invitations.

Praise for the “Over There”
-- Your arrangement of "Skye Boat Song" is powerful, almost majestic.

-- I love your CD! Please send another copy for my friend. Arlene, Lantana, FL
-- I am loving the CD, so glad Bill mentioned it. Linda, St. Augustine, FL
-- The "Jamie/Johnny" medley was played with such an infectious joy that I hopped off the couch, grabbed my dulcimer hammers and started playing along. Marcille Wallis of Ceol Binn
