The Hudu Engineers have nailed it. A baker\'s dozen sparkling original compositions that could hail from the fifties or early sixties. Nice change-ups in rhythms keep things interesting: Carl Perkinsesque Rockabilly, straight-forward Rock and Roll and Rhythm and Blues all present and accounted for. They manage to throw in a surf instrumental that takes a trippy turn in the middle with a noirish sax break then emerges on the other side of the pipeline in Dick Dale land...and damned if it doesn\'t all hang together! According to the liner notes, the story of how they recorded it is as interesting as the music, including pilgrimages to Sun Records in Memphis, Muscle Shoales Alabama, Virginia, New Hampshire and back to Mississippi to lay down tracks. Good-natured, heartfelt performances are to be found throughout that just sweat American Roots music. Get it, it\'ll do you good! Read more...
