Review:
Andrew Hunter and the Gatherers' latest EP gives these fellas the right to feel they're on "On a Cloud," as the fifth track enforces. The eight tracks on the album, recorded in Halifax at Codapop Recording Studios, definitely hint at Matt Mays' strong guitar riffs, reflective lyrics of Neil Young and the heavy vocals of Eddie Vedder. It's clear that Hunter has found a blend of influences from his surroundings and travels, including the beat of surfing waves in both Maui and Nova Scotia, and growing up in small-town New Brunswick. Hitting the radio next for this trio is "The Feel Good Song," starting March 23.

Andrew Hunter & The Gatherers are a high energy three-piece alt/rock band based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Originally from the small town of Florenceville NB, over the last decade Andrew split his time between living in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on the island of Maui, and the shores of Nova Scotia. In 05 the call of the Maritimes was too much … the move was made back to Halifax to follow the music and the surf. Soon after there was a solo record, a tour and a band formed. The Gatherers, Mat Budreski on drums and backing vocals and new edition Mike Barrett on bass bring a refined sound to the band. With driving rhythms, solid vocal harmonies and thick guitar tones the sound is full, the live show is full on. The new self-titled EP will be released spring 2009. One of the top up and coming acts on the east coast, this hard-working trio have been pounding the pavement, criss-crossing the country and slowly but surely, making waves. A mixed bag of influences, people and locations have led to the highly anticipated follow up to 07’s Victory at Sea and 2006’s The Sunday sessions. Recent accolades include: Regional winner of the Canadian RadioStar National Songwriting Competition along with being selected as showcase artists at NSMW, ECMA and CMW 2009. Press: "Songwriting is obviously their forte' - Bodog Music "One of the most full sounding three piece acts I have seen"-Q104FM’s J.D. DeRosiers . Available on Itunes or cdbaby.com as well as fine record stores and surf shops throughout Atlantic Canada. For booking or contact email: theband@andrewhunter.ca
