Album Notes

Here's a blast from the past... I found two boxes of my first cd in the back of the hall closet (Hmmmm, I thought I unloaded all of these). So I gave it a listen, and for a 'Freshman' attempt it's not bad. We hadn't yet purchased some of the big ticket items for the studio, but the sound quality is remarkably good. And I still get compliments on some of the songs, shows you how you can never tell what people will like. Not that I don't, in fact, they harkin back to a more innocent time that brings back a lot of memories. Some good and some not so good, but hey. I only have a limited quantity of these, and when they're gone there'll be no more, so check it out and see if my past fits into your present.

Compelling and relevant!
author: Laura T Lynch of Kweevak.com
Paul states that the eleven tracks on Bridge "harkin back to a more innocent time that brings back lots of memories", yet the songs are still compelling and relevant. Hurst's music reflects his interest in 60s and 70s classic rock combined with the blues, contemporary, folk and pop. His production is straightforward with few tricks allowing his spirited instrumentation and solid vocals to carry his songs. 'Tomorrow' opens the CD with simple drum rhythm and subtle bass line as Paul explores a variety of vocal inflections and guitar rifts. 'More of the Same' and 'Firehouse' are up-tempo, smoky blues based songs featuring spicy guitar parts. The vocals on both are crisp yet have the heart and soul of the blues. Bridge is a solid collection covering a variety of styles that are well played by the multitalented Paul Hurst!
