The Second in the Hussalonia Home Fabricated Compact Disque Series brings us a rather brief, but entertaining program of songs sung (or spoken) entirely by robots. Using a combination of real and synthetic instruments and sounds, The Robot Singers speculates on the secret life and desires of robots. With some songs possessing a traditional sounding melody line, it sounds as if robots were sent back in time to write these songs. Others are modern, dissonant, electronic and percussive. Hussalonia layers the past, present and future and forces man to confront the man made.

"There is a peculiar sense of comedy and tragedy prevalent throughout this disc. Hearing these expressionless confessions does strange things to a human ear. When sincerity is uncertain, we assign irony to it. But what to do when a robot, incapable of delivering irony, tells us of his desire to be an owl and the suit of brown feathers he's constructed? Why is this simultaneously funny and heartbreaking?" Bernard Fenton, Elusive Songwriter magazine

"The robots are like children in their lack of subtle expression, their innocent longings challenged by their synthetic voices, but they express complex adult themes such as love, death and possession." George Ritter, author of Robots in Time

"Excellent production...(the songs) are complimented by well composed instrumental passages, orchestral in nature." Steve Grange, Reclusive Producer magazine

"It's comical, novel, bleak, funny, heartbreaking, sparse, expansive, dense, layered, sad, and humorous" Josh Anomaly, Abandoned Arts

Exellent CD--Clever with Lots of Personality

Hussalonia is a pop-conceptualist: each album assumes a different character, adapts different styles, and tackles different subjects. The Robot Singers must be the most extreme example of this. Bittersweet tales told from the point of the view of analog metal-men. Just because this release is somewhat silly in theme, doesn't mean Hussalonia has skimped on the quality. Each tune is well crafted and bright, with smart lyrics and quality music. If you are looking for an excuse to jump on AND off the pop merry-go-round Hussalonia is a name you can trust.

A very good cd by Hussalonia. Wonderful songs, I love those robots...I think it doesn't seem too much like the other Hussalonia CDs, its even better! Worth buying but this CD is defenitly too short, some more of this excellent music would be great.

I have this disc + 2 other discs by Hussalonia. If you read all the quotes about this disc and listen to the samples, then you'll have an idea of what this music is like...so I won't try to expand...but I'll state that this music is worth hearing and worth purchasing. This guy is a good writer and an interesting producer. Buy this CD before it's out-of-print!

This cd is really great! Sad, touching, comical...it has all these wonderful qualities. My boyfriend likes it so much that I fear if we ever break up my copy will disappear along with him! It's very addicting and all who have listened to it at our apartment have enjoyed it and commented on it. It is special and a true gem in a world where most records being released sound like unoriginal crap. Buy this!!
