Album Notes

Ted Hu is a Boston based musician who has been playing around the Massachusetts area for the past three years. Classically trained, his biggest inspirations are Chopin, Tori Amos, Charlotte Martin, Kate Bush, and anything electronic with organic instrumentation. In this time, Ted has acquired a loyal following online and his live performances have included shows at Club Passim, Phoenix Landing, All Asia Café, and Hennessy’s Hooley House in downtown Boston. His festival performances include benefit concerts for the Nivasa Foundation and Yankee Homecoming. Armed with a piano, he’s out to tour and see the world.

Ted Hu’s debut album, Wolves, Foxes, and Cranes spans the sonic spectrum, melding together characteristics from all genres. From orchestral to electronic, indie pop rock to string filled piano ballads, the songs will take you to another world. “Funèbre,” in the style of a funeral march, evokes images of the mid 1800s and American Gothica. “This Calls for Paper Cranes” sees the marriage of electronic beats and the lush sounds of a string quartet. “Metal,” with its odd timing and heartbreaking performance is pure arthouse music. “Science” leaves behind the sounds of the piano and brings in a Rhodes, bells, and strings while “Safe Zone” opens the record by challenging you to enter this musical world. This album
will not leave you disappointed as you will not want to leave at all.
