LA BASED ALTERNATIVE HARD ROCK BAND "HYALINE" SET TO TAKE OVER WEST COAST WITH RELEASE OF "Hyaline - Neogene"
**THIS PAGE IS HYALINE'S DEBUT RECORD FROM 2002**
After the airing of Bravo Channel's new T.V. show "Queer Eye for the Straight Girl", Hyaline sells out 3 times and is Top Seller of the week in March '05. With the completion of their new record and tour dates lined up Hyaline is set to take over the west coast. Anticipation is high for this sophomore release as their first self-titled CD was received with critical acclaim:
Sonic mastery as only true music entertainers may ever accomplish together (Nocturnal Movements)
A monumental accomplishment for a first album, their debut "Hyaline" is a must have for all serious collectors of rock music. The introduction of the electric violin into this eclectic mix was a stroke of genius. We all await your next album! (New Rock Cafe News)
The LA-based (band) is able to create deep, rich undertones that flow in a groove that is irresistible (VOXonline)
Their live sound and stage performance are truly awe-inspiring. The band plays together flawlessly while providing a stage show you won't be able to take your eyes off of (The Unsigned Music Network)
After playing to packed houses in Hollywood in clubs like The Roxy, The Whisky-a-Go-Go, and The Viper Room, headlining festivals like this years Third Eye Gathering, and playing with bands such as The Psychedelic Furs, members of The Cure, Incubus, Dada, Jane's Addiction, and Porno for Pyros, Hyaline continues to build an impressive following throughout the West Coast from San Diego to Seattle. They have also begun to expand their following internationally in Australia, Germany, Denmark, and the UK. Their song "Candy Jar" which due to outstanding listener reviews was featured as Rock Song of the Day on Garageband.com. Hyaline's music is not only featured on a "making of" DVD for the Adidas commercial "Mechanical Legs", directed by David Fincher (director of "Seven" and "Fight Club"), but also is included in extreme sports movies and videos. Members of the band have started www.schema-music.com, a production company specializing in music for film, licensing, commercials, and video games. In addition, Hyaline has won the monthly "Spot Light" poll for four consecutive months, beating out over 1000 bands from around the world on the Unsigned Music Network, one of the internet's largest independent music websites.
The future has arrived my friends, and its name is Hyaline (Campus Point, University of California, Santa Barbara)

Knew I needed this album when I saw the film "Return 2 Sender"!
author: Joshua PhillipsFirst heard these songs in the film "Return 2 Sender" (A kick-ass rock climbing documentary). Studied the credits to discover Hyaline's debut album! This is a must have for any audiophile!
had to revisit
author: tsummer234wanted to drop a line and say that this is (for me) the cd of a lifetime.
love it
author: DennisThe cd was excellent, its one of those cds that you can listen to everyday from the first to last song. Everyone should try listening to it
great new sound
author: tony swonderful new sound, hyaline is a powerful new sound that is going to blow the mainstream market away i am patiently awaiting their new cd
New school of rock!
author: MikeyWelcome to the new school of rock! This cd will have you bobbing your head like the little plastic dogs you used to see in the back of cars in the 70's. A shot in the arm that will revive your love of rock and roll! Can't wait for the next cd!
A real and rare ear-gasmic treat!
author: JesseTotally incredible debut. Actually heard some of their music here online before they were on Queer Eye for the Straight Girl--usually my sig-other doesn't enjoy my music--but this music she actually loves right along with me. This means I can put it on and really crank it up! Can't wait to get your new one next month.
Can't wait for new releases!
author: Cathy HawksI love this album! The originality of these songs will keep this band on the top of my favorite pile of cd's forever!
Wondeful blend!
author: Theo MooreThis CD showcases the broad base of creative talents in this band. The music itself is rich and textured, deep and moving. It seems a little more on the dark side, but I tend to use music like a sauce for my moods rather than modify them. When I want to feel serious and introspective, it's perfect! Reminds me a little of A Pefect Circle, Tool, and a little Evanescence. I plan on getting any new stuff they make.
Excellent debut
author: Alan-BoltonUKGreat sound - reminded me of QOSA then went in a totally different direction. Gets better after each play. Hope the make it across the pond one day.
Stunning CD Cant wait for more
author: Bree AnnThe power packed into this CD will hit you like a hammer. What a great group effort, can't wait to hear future releases.
Rockin' Mix of Music!
author: Jennifer LubbsI think this CD is great. It is great to work out to! Each of the songs has its own unique sound, which is a pleasant change from CD's you buy where every song sounds the same. I love the mix of different instraments! A flute in a rock band? Awesome! I am glad that I happened to catch 'Queer Eye For the Straight Girl' that night!
what a ride!!!!!
author: donaleeeFrom a great start, with each song more amazing than the last. My new favorite gift to give!!!!!
Beautifully different
author: NatGaI really enjoy this album. It feeds my need for variety within an album, from the harder rock in the first couple of tracks to the atmospheric tracks where the violin and flute get more of a voice. I have a feeling I'm going to love their next CD even more, and am eagerly awaiting it. Meanwhile, Hyaline is getting a lot of play in my office -- it helps me get into a great concentration groove.
Excellent blend of all things rock and alternaive
author: Mike O.Excellent cd with all tracks being well orchestrated. All the other reviews say it best. Tool, Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains etc... But yet still very original. keep the great music coming, don't change!
Very intense, almost tribal
author: Matthew HutchinsonGood stuff! I only have one complaint about their debut album: their guitarist has got to lay off on the repeating double chord theme. He seems to have a love affair with just two chords, as he plays it constantly throughout most of the album. I was exhausted by the time the album finished, and not in a good way.
Different, Surprising, and Terrific
author: Brad V.How do you classify the music on this CD? I can't as it contains a truly eclectic mix of styles. I listened to a few sound bites on this website and was intrigued enough to try the album. I'm glad I did as it's one of the best and most innovative pieces I've heard in quite a while. Wonderful stuff and very highly recommended.
Love the music
author: ShaniI love the CD and the music from Hyaline. Their music brings to mind bands that I enjoy listening to like Rusted Root and A Perfect Circle. Can't wait to hear what they come out with next.
Beautiful, haunting, evocative blend of world music and hard rock
author: Jefferson WilliamsI cannot stop playing this CD. Truly innovative and distinctive. It evokes Pink Floyd, Led Zep and Alice In Chains but has it's own unique sound and style of hard driving rock and etherial world music. There's not a bad cut on the entire album. Generation Now, In The Trees, Muse, Instead Of Me are all great, but it's tough not to listen to the album straight through, over and over again. Can't wait for the next CD.
Very tasty, you'll dig it.
author: John in N.Y.I have enjoyed this CD imensely. If I was pressed to describe Hyaline's sound, I would have to say they have influences of Tool, Jethro Tull, with the lyrical substance of Rush. They are the new thinking man's metal band. The only suggestion I have for the band, is to make more use of Kim and Andera's haunting vocal style. BUY THIS CD AND MAKE THEM HUGE ! They deserve it!
Evocative: Gothic, Classical & Rock: who'd have thought it would work?
author: JustineThis Cd is a wonderful journey into some truly amazing musical ideas...it's almost surreal at times (the bonus track at the end in particular; just keep it playing when you think the last song has run.) The elements of rock, punk, goth & classical come together amazingly well under their skillful manipulation. You really ought to try this band & this CD, if you haven't already. Come on, the CD will cost you less than 3 days of lunch at work, probably. Try it, you'll like it.
best album since mer de noms
author: tymy favorite album right now, i love the vocals and the heavy guitar. the vioin is a great touch, as is the flute, and the pure metalness of it is astounding. the only comparable band is a perfect circle, and only "mer de noms". rockin stuff.
Highly inventive with a heavy edge
author: Tim BowdenHyaline gives birth to a new era of progressive rock, with an emphasis on the 'Rock'. A heavy, crunchy guitar riff brings continuity to a series of songs featuring soaring lyrics, violins, flutes, and God knows what else. Songs range from the hard edged to the nearly mystical. This is what Rock would sound like if the Druids had invented it.
amazing, powerful, complex
author: RebekahI can't get enough of this album, and I can't wait for their sequel. I really enjoy how most of the songs just flow together creating a musical journey. To me, it's very reminiscent of early Pink Floyd - they have such a different sound. This album is like nothing I have ever heard before and that's perhaps what I enjoy most about it.
It's a great blend of music creating an incredible sound
author: Andrew BowdenI've known the guys in Hyaline for over 15 years and this CD proves what I've known all along. This is one of the best CD's out. Great sound and great songs. This band is going to be huge.
purty awesome
author: JasonA great blend of talents. I really like it.
this album will usurp your cd player.
author: taarindo not hesitate in adding this album to your collection. start to finish, this self-titled debut offers a rare sense of balance. there is so much to digest... the inspired time signature hopping. the lyrical genius that suggests maybe, just maybe, there is life outside of television. the complementing male/female vocals. the driving, tribal percussion. the haunting primal cries that still give me the chills. i cannot say enough good about this album. if you dig the band 'floater' you will dig 'hyaline.' this music is the perfect catalyst for a reconnection with nature, for a reconnection with yourself, for that matter. listen to it beginning to end three times and you'll be hooked. buy it. i dare you.
Hyaline is actually a very good band with interesting ideas
author: Score! Music MagazineWhat is important, however, is that Hyaline is actually a very good band with interesting ideas and a musical dynamic that you don’t find too often. Hyaline’s music is, for lack of a better description, hard alternative rock with a progressive edge due mostly to their use of violin and flute. Standout tracks on this disk are “Generation Now” and “Muse”.
- author: BZE
this Hyaline record is an absolute must have, its got such a great heavy dark vibe to it, excellent vocals, with the combo of crunhy guitars, violin & flute, is very inspiring! i was blown away by this band, this band should really hit it big time!
Finally...
author: Oregon BackroadsImagine a moonlit night in Oregon, a large open meadow, about a hundred of your best friends, and plenty of good cheer for all. This is the CD you would want playing...or even better...the band you would want performing. Until then, we like to gather a dozen friends or so, and play Hyaline with volume, under that same Oregon sky, around a fire ring in the backyard--you should too!
A monumental accomplishment for a first album.
author: New Rock Cafe NewsThis debut album is a must have for all serious collectors of rock music and memorabilia. The sound is a fusion of the most trendy concepts of hip-hop and industrial rock, but clearly with an homage to the old masters and just the slightest hint of new-age fidelity. The introduction of the electric violin into this eclectic mix was a stroke of genius. We all await your next album - and please - more violin!
Smooth merger of melody that rocks hard!
author: Joel NewmanIt seems that the sound is hypnotic, but you get a urge from deep inside to MOSH. The fusion of Rock, Punk, and Symphoic melodys is incredible. These guys (and gals...lol) have really hit a new level of today diverse music. I can't wait to here them LIVE! If they keep rockin' like this the industry needs to WATCH OUT, new stars are born!!
