Album Notes

HyperEgo is a personal project by Luis Carlos Alcázar which was born around 2007. As usual in this cases it arose suddenly. In springtime of that year, he writes a song named “Rest in peace” for his current band, Com.pulsion. But, by joint decision, they agree that it's too much commercial for them. Instead of rejecting the song, he see many possibilities to add a parallel project to Com.pulsion, which let him release some of his musical reveries that do not fit into the band's style. Nothing extreme opposite, but closer to electro and danceable beats, less sophisticated. The rest comes naturally driven by new technologies and he registers a new Myspace page with the nickname ME to start uploading his own compositions.

Gradually the number of tracks grow and grow, and in 2009 they come to integrate his first solo album, “Pocket Songs”, which collects 10 unreleased songs and 2 remixes by international artists like MILO B (UK) and PEOPLE THEATRE (France). That release, fully self-produced, see the light only through free access getting hundred of controlled downloads and a few thousand via torrent or P2P. He also was honored with the collaboration of Atreya in the track “Who I am”.

One curious thing about him; in 2007 he has a crazy day and sends a demo CD with some of the tracks from “Pocket Songs” to the "Certamen de Canción de Autor" of that year (an andalusian songwriters contest), which had place in Jaen. Surprisingly he was chosen for the semifinals together with two other absolutely different bands: POTAJHE and ANTILOPEZ (flamenco and rock respectively). Thus, on 15 November same year, he appeared with a keyboard, a PC and a friend (pure atrezzo) at Jaen's venue “El Azulejo”, ready to defend his songs. Obviously, it was a total shipwreck, but it was also funny the fact of seeing participating to a synthpop band in a local songwriters contest.

Another funny thing: in 2008, he creates the song MOBILE with other two friends, only to participate at Eurovision Song Contest pre-selection and laugh for a while. They reached the 53th position among more than 500 candidates.

In 2010 after a long period focused on new projects of his band, Com.pulsion, a yearning borns as a way out from the dense and complex musical atmospheres in which he's constantly involved with them. And a new album began to take shape. But this time, the goal it's to do something with sense, solid, cohesive, structured. Something with a meaning. “Pocket songs” wasn't a non-sense album at all, but the whole work was shaped from not too linked tracks, written during several years, and finally compiled and put together. Right now it's time to plan things well, follow a main theme from zero to the end. It's time to put into words and music what he better knows: himself. Paradoxes, feelings, affections, hates, fears and hopes. It's time to compose with no pressures, using simple baselines and sequences, sticky synthetic melodies.

That's how “Rolling Over Words” was born, an english title for an album that shifts between spanish lyrics (except “Absolute”). Almost two years of work alternated with productions for Com.pulsion and other bands. “ROW” it's a totally self-produced release, from head to toes, at his own studio in Jaen. An EP with 5 songs inside, plus a selection of remixes by different spanish artists like Nacho Sotomayor, Promisk, Sibaris, Lemür or Dieddro.
“ROW” will be out in digital format via iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby and Spotify on January 2012 and after that it will be released in physical format for fans by pre-ordering it.

Besides Com.pulsion and HyperEgo, Luis Carlos Alcázar has produced countless remixes for many international and national artists ((De/Vision -Germany- ,Pedro Marin, Andermay, Second, Munich72, Obsidian Lost, Krell, Maralian, Silica Gel
