It is also a six-member ensemble that performs original contemporary jazz that is festive & smooth, melodic & rhythmic. The group consists of leader and composer Gerry Bryant (keyboards), Henry Cook (acoustic and electric bass ), Nicoles DeGaulejac (drums), Al Martin (percussion, flute), Tommy Myers, (saxophones), Catarina New (saxophones), George Preston (guitar), and Keith Swan (drums).
POCKETWATCHTM, the BAND, is . . . original contemporary jazz that is festive & smooth, melodic & rhythmic! POCKETWATCHTM, the TRIO (pictured) is... timeless jazz standards in an intimate and elegant style! POCKETWATCHTM, members are . . . Gerry Bryant (keyboards, leader and composer) - Gerry has performed with Les McCann, Carl Anderson, Dizzy Gillespie and others; he is also an entertainment attorney. Henry Cook (acoustic and electric bass) - Henry fronts his own R & B/jazz band, and has done sessions for many artists, including Barbara Morrison, Wayne Henderson, and others; he is also an engineer. Nicoles DeGaulejac (drums) - A native of France, Nicoles recently moved to the United States and has already established himself as an in-demand session player and live performance drummer. Al Martin (percussion, flute) - Al played extensively in Panama, and was formerly with the Blues Caravan; he co-leads his own band, and is also a costume supervisor for television and films. Tommy Myers (saxophones) - Tommy wears many hats and collects many frequent flyer miles. He keeps busy by performaing regularly with bands in both Los Angeles and in the Bay Area. Catarina New (saxophones) - A native of Sweden, Catarina recently moved to this country and has already performed with many top jazz artists; she also fronts her own Brazilian jazz group. George Preston (guitar) - George leads his own popular, local blues/rock band, "The Geopres Band," and is also an accomplished composer/vocalist. Keith Swan (drums) - A true artist in every sense of the word, Keith is an in-demand session and gig drummer who is equally adept with all musical styles.

Gorgeous arrangements

The mellow groove of this CD is perfect for lounging with a glass of wine. The truly remarkable aspect of this CD, though, is the quality of the arrangements. Many of the tunes here are standards and, like old friends, in danger of being taken for granted due to overfamiliarity. But Gerry Bryant, who is credited on the album with the arrangements, has not just interpreted these standards again but re-interpreted them from a fresh perspective, incorporating quotes and variations from other standards and even classical works, employing almost a dialogic approach, the result of which is not merely beautiful but also thought-provoking.
