World Beat

No Boundaries is made up of two special and talented individuals, Don Whitehead and Harley A. Searcy. Close friends since the late 1960's, they both have enjoyed successful careers. Their creative collaboration of No Boundaries was born in 1995 - an inspirational, no holds barred, anything goes, in your face message, spoken word/musical experience. Don Whitehead has performed on the electric bass with Al Green and Little Richard along with a wide spectrum of local jazz talent in the Chicago area. He has written, performed, collaborated and/or recorded with a variety of artists such as Chicago's illustrious Pharaohs, Jerry Butler, and Donny Hathaway. Don was a co-founder and an original performing member of the dynamic musical aggregation Earth, Wind and Fire. Harley Searcy, honored as an Outstanding Young American and Who's Who In California, received a B.A. from UCLA and a Juris Doctorate from Stanford Law School and has been writing creatively for over twenty years. His literary accomplishments include: in The Eye of the Midnite Pearl, a collection of Harley's poetry. Inclusion of his works in "Black Light," an African-American poetry anthology by Hallmark Press; and "NOMMO," the UCLA Black Student's publication where he served as both Poetry Editor and Managing Editor. He was also Co-Producer and writer for "The Cotton Club Revue," a song/dance/drama/musical annual show for five consecutive years at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. A native Beaumont, Texas he currently resides in southern California where he is an attorney specializing in construction and public and private real estate development. Current CD: Voices of the Voice Producers Don Whitehead and Harley Searcy have brought words of wisdom, a keen mixture of melodies, and a strong connecting identity to the realm of spoken words accompanying unusual musical persuasion in their current release entitled Voices of the Voice. A stimulating collection of warbling, eclectic sounds of Whitehead and Searcy is offered up for your dimensional delights. More than a song, their collaboration gives a non-compromising tribute to the ancestors with a movement of powerful living messages through revolutionary rhythm. From an explosion of enlightening "Black Moaning" to intrepid trails through cement jungles of Los Angeles described in "Street Scene Ramblin" to the exploration far into the Amazon forest where leaping Monkey-fish fly swimming in the "Rhythm of the River," these brothers truly take you on a marvelous journey. You'll ask yourself, "What Up Wit Dat" when you experience and enjoy the playful joy beat rocking the house in "Happy Crawdad." Bask in the timeless glow of the immortal ebony hue of "Nefertitti" Queen of the Nile as she dances to the burning enrichment found in the baffling fast forward complexity of "Word Wizards." "Freedom Piece" rings priceless memories of unforgettable yesterdays - breaking the chains of slavery, setting the stage for the mind games of "Brain Insane" and when you hear it you relate, 'cuz you know you've been there. And, of course they give glory to God, brothers and sisters marching soldier-like with gospel significance introducing "Progressive Sanctification" as they sing mighty spiritual praises nurturing and leading the church choir with dutiful, strong and solid sounds of faith. "Love Is" shares a wonderful tender collection of romantic meanings, music, dynamically focused for you to listen and enjoy over and over again. FINALLY, the soulful vocal raptures your dimensional experience with the flowing flavor of "Warrior Poets" who throw down tough meaning in creative history having No Boundaries.
