Album Notes

This is The MiGs' debut CD. Hailed by Southern California's Campus Circle Magazine as one of the “most memorable debuts” for 2000. This is an eclectic band comprised of an odd cast of players wielding such diverse musical ingredients as Latin percussion, theremin, analog synths and testosterone heavy weird surf guitars. The result is never a dull moment. Top it off with a track featuring DJ Bonebrake of the LA punk band X on Marimba (Muchacha #3).

Founded by Bernard Yin the MiGs crew is also comprised of Kevin Lee: Theremin/Synths, Derrick Anderson: Bass, John Lacques: Drums, Rick Deliz: Guitars, Roy Staley: Drums, Tim Depala: Bass, Eric Elbogen: Bass and a host of other esteemed LA freaks.

Bernard's presence in LA has been highlighted by his involvement in such bands (chronologically): Samba Hell (Lollapalooza '92), Spindle (Interscope Records), Medicine (American Recordings), Permanent Green Light (Island Records), Brazil 2001 (numerous surf videos and films), The Glitter Panthers (featuring members of Extra Fancy and the Geraldine Fibbers), Sex With Lurch, El Vez and even a brief stint as "Vince" with the Fuzztones in 2005. The MiGs' Roy Staley was the drummer for infamous prop-rock band: Green Jello. Rick Deliz's band Satelite has made a mark in the LA Rock en Español scene and tours Puerto Rico periodically. Derrick Anderson is a recognized talent in the LA pop scene and fronts the Andersons as well as plays bass in Slow Motorcade.

So many cool songs! SWEET AND SOUR is campy but it hits the spot! The line..."maybe it's time you got off of your ass..." it hit me! It's so true and it made me got off of my ass! JET WASH and SAKE BINDINGS are really rockin'!!! That's what The MiGs are up to now with insrtrumental surf music and it ROCKS!!! 1600 ARMADILLOS is country sounding but it's just tooooo funnnny! Listen to it few times and you'll be hooked! My favorite still is BIEN GATE, because it's just too beautiful. It means "A Brat" in English and I can sure relate! I wish The MiGs still do this song because even though you can't understand what it means because it's in French, you can still feel the melancholy feel of the song. The music hits your heart and you still understand because you feel...no language barrier there. TOO MANY PEOPOLE is rodckin' and it's poppy but it has a hook and you can relate to the world as of now...too many people! Overall, I liked the variety of this cd and the cover art is very cool.
