REVIEWS

A hidden treasure
author: Terry
Thomas Rheingans is a very gifted pianist. He performs in several genres, but this work, Wings Of The Dove, is an excellent set of original compositions in the New Age style. The liner notes say that these 10 songs are the culmination of 12 years of work. I listen to a lot of New Age stuff, and I only recently heard of Rheingans work. He is not well known, but I would rate his New Age work as being comparable to David Lanz, Michael Allen Harrison, Bradley Joseph, and Michael Jones. There is a depth and richness to his work that makes this CD one I can listen to over and over. The titles on this CD are taken from poems by Shelley, so they're a little cumbersome; the tracks I liked best were "O'er the faint cold starlight of heaven," "So your voice most tender," "As the moon's soft spendor," and "The stars will awaken." This CD is a great surprise.
