Often delicate, but never overly precious, Iberis' Jan Reed's voice sweetly floats over acoustic melodies. Lush strings, twinkling pianos, and peddle steel guitar wrap around these songs creating an album as serene as a breath of the fresh Utah air.

Album Notes

Iberis' debut, Somewhat Important, was a stark singer/songwriter record that set the template for Reed's songwriting skills. But it only hinted at the breadth that was to come in her new offering Sour Apple Tree, which seems like a quantum leap forward from the indisputably accomplished Important. On the new record, Reed's expressive, lilting vocals and her lively acoustic guitar playing form the album's backbone. Then, each of the 11 songs is embellished by arrangements that will dazzle listeners with their inventive sparkle. Sultry electric guitars, arcing string swells, humming organs, brushed drums, and chiming pianos buttress Reed's melodic compositions, underscoring each song's emotional impact. Combine this with Reed's lovely harmonies and the result is brilliant-perfect for swooning to on rainy days and starry nights alike.

My girlfriend and I love it

I've enjoyed both Iberis CDs, and I introduced Sour Apple Tree to my girlfriend recently and she fell in love. Jan's voice is so lovely and soothing, and the music overall is more lush and developed in feeling than her previous effort, "Somewhat Important." Definitely a CD to pick up if you are in love or just want to feel that way.
