Album Notes

Iceage Cobra. The name alone evokes the sort of bent creativity and tongue-in-cheek self confidence you might hope to find in a new band, but it doesn't tell you everything you need to know... Iceage Cobra came roaring into Seattle from Spokane, WA like the other Northwest rock greats from outta nowhere. Melvins, Malfunkshun, Nirvana... Iceage Cobra. They don't grow this kinda stuff in the big city. Small towns often breed the bands that start modern revolutions - and Iceage Cobra has what it takes to incite a movement. Iceage Cobra could never have existed before now. Their influences span the decades before them, but their popular live show is far from being a retro revue. It's a blast of youth and rhythm and charisma and humor and overdriven riffs - an irresistible rock n' roll gumbo with fat chunks of soul that get stuck in your teeth and follow you home. Iceage Cobra. Revolution. Rock n' Roll. Soul.

Brilliant Ideas from Amazing People

JD and I had a chance to record Iceage Cobra at Big City Sound Recording Studio last spring... we really enjoyed working with them! (Sorry to hear Brad left, but the new guy seems to be working out well!) Metch and Jordan are great guys, (thanks again Metch, for letting me not tune or retake your vocal... I know you wanted to redo that take!) and Jordan might be the craziest guitar player I've ever met... and that's going quite a ways... these guys have a great fan base in the Seattle area, and are still very popular when they play back home in Spokane. In addition they are touring and doing shows across the US... I know they did Bumbershoot (again),and I heard they rocked the sox off SXSW from some buddies of mine who attended... If you're into hard-hitting rock that is both avant-garde and hook laden at the same time, Iceage Cobra should be your cup of Joltin' Joe... and don't just grab the album, you gotta catch these guys live when you get a chance... they have more energy than three mile island ever threatened to release. Thanks again for the chance to work with you guys, we had fun, and loved hearing Acid Pony on the CD! -Peter Nordberg

Iceage Cobra is a Seattle-based rock n' roll power trio that lives up to their debut album's name. Their style is difficult to categorize, but they are reminiscent of many legendary hard rock bands, namely those from the seventies. This album blends touches of heavy metal (Deathmobile), garage punk, blues, and even hip-hop (We're Gonna Win Some Money) without being derivative. All of this comes together seamlessly in what are simply Brilliant Ideas from Amazing People.
