In some respects, Ida Olsson’s music is an enchanting contradiction in terms. At once earthy and ethereal, playful and wise, worldly yet archetypically Swedish, her songs use heavenly harmonies and simple-yet-arresting arrangements to overcome the doubts of even the most sceptical among us.
The non-Swedish speakers need not be able to follow the lyrics to be touched by these songs’ beauty, while those of us who do understand Olsson’s mother tongue are rewarded by the truths on offer within them. A joy from start to finish, this album is highly recommended.

Upcoming swedish singer/songwriter

I can highly recommend this album by upcoming swedish singer/songwriter Ida Olsson. This is her second album on her own label and a third one is about to be released. The lyrics is written by Ida herself and she also co-write the music with guitarist Simon Ljungman , a long-time collaborator.
Ida grew up in Enköping and has always liked to perform. She´s been working with theatre and she has been playing with different bands until she found her way in music as a singer/songwriter.
The songs deals with everyday life questions, lovesongs, problems of accepting oneself and to understand that anyone can really love you, the daily competion we have with ourselves. There are also some social songs.
The singing, playing and songwriting is first class and I´m sure this is an artist you will hear much more of in near future. Add this CD to your cart. You won´t regret it.
