A very-strong first outing shows promise for even greater things to come.
author: John The Revelator
Having heard from several friends who had purchased this CD, I thought that I'd give it a try and ordered it from CD Baby. What I found within the album lived up to what my friends had proclaimed - Not only do these guys rock; THEY LOVE TO ROCK! There is quite a bit going on here that you really won't find in many if any first outings for bands. While there is maybe a lack of clarity to the subject matter, you are certainly left with a sense of imagery that conveys the meaning. There is a lot of hard driving music here ala' Guns N Roses and Led Zepplin. The production is very well done and there is a lot of advantage taken of the technology that was available to the band to great effect. So, while it may never be hailed as a classic, I feel that it is a record that shows a lot of promise to come from the imaginitive songwriting and arranging that has been shown in Hypersaline Saloon. A lot of legendary acts had to get their bearings within their first couple of LPs before they produced a masterpiece. Hypersaline Saloon posesses the same qualities contained within the exploratory first-albums to which I have just referred. The bottom line is that this is a highly-entertaining album that never gets boring and brings back the long-forgotten guitar-solo to the forefront to exciting effect. Help support these guys by buying the CD and we might just be rewarded with a masterpiece.
