"Right out of the chute the male vocal cuts right into a slightly sarcastic verse about the pop industry. The song is produced with all the latest bling, bling and in this case its perfect. Some remarkable keyboard work fills out some of the segue sections with wonderful depth. With great harmonies and beats, this tune delivers all it was supposed to and more. There are real musicians hiding behind this pop spoof wonderland. This group parodies pop better than pop itself and if you look into its corners their true musicality can't help but leak out. Hilarious, addictive, and anything but ordinary

Once in a rare while there comes a pop album that does not suffer from the same lack of individuality that so often seems to define the genre. With One Minute Mayham, I Hate This Place's Sean Nerney delivers a blend of pop and electronica that carries a wit and humor all its own.
Alchemy (Shit to Gold) is probably the strongest track on the CD; simultaneously infectious and a great satire on pop. Miserable Girl is another strong point. Yes, a pop song about love that is cleverly written and does not involve excessive emo or teenybopper lyrics does exist and it's right here. One Minute Mayhem is, as the name states, brief, but is somber, refreshing, and hints at the group's darker second CD.
The whole CD carries Sean's brand of humor, beginning from The Phone Call and culminating to the glorious Turtle Song, which no one with a pulse can listen to without laughing. It is about as unconventional as humanly possible, and may require a degree of getting used to, but well worth it. I s
