Album Notes

Sorry About the Heavy Mental Music is the 4th and latest release by Creston BC based band IICosmic. IICosmic is the main vehicle for the songwriting of Gary Deatherage, a clinical psychologist and Viet Nam veteran who, along with his son, drummer and producer Jason Deatherage, and lead guitarist Mark Nicol, form the core of this unique cosmic rock band. Recorded at Fort Cosmos Studios in Creston, BC Canada, Sorry About the Heavy Mental Music features a wide range of material, some dreamily exploratory, some crushingly heavy, but all featuring the trademark IICosmic sound. Jason's production of the record is simple but full, framing Gary's songs in layers of guitars, powerful drumming, and lush keyboard backgrounds. Mark's leads are always intense and musical, while Jason's bass playing and drumming drive the songs relentlessly. Also featured for the first time is Aram Masee, an accomplished keyboard player who lends his considerable talents to IICosmic's sound. Sorry About the Heavy Mental Music covers all the bases: good songs, good players, good production...what more could one ask for?
