The cd was inspired because of my love for rudiments and a hope of giving back. The cd narrates and demonstrates each rudiment from a very slow to a very fast and back to a very slow again. Each rudiment is on it's own individual track. The target groups are beginning and intermediate drummers, although some advanced drummers may benefit from this instructional tool.

Good CD for any drummer willing to expand rudiment playing abilities!
author: Alonzo Tucker IIThe CD was a great help. It broke down the basic rudiments in a way where understanding the rudiments were a breeze. Even the explanations given about each rudiment gave an extra bonus to understanding them. I incourage anyone needing to learn how to play a snare drum to go and purchase this CD. I am a witness that it will help, I guarantee it.
A great CD for students of all learning types.
author: Jennifer BrownAs a middle school band director, I like to use Ike Alexander's CD to supplement our other classroom materials because it progresses with the rudiments in a fashion that's easy to follow. I particularly like this CD because students of all learning types can benefit from it.
Great quick start to drum rudiments!
author: Michael A. Puyallup, WashingtonI realy like how each rudiment recording begins slow enough that the beginner can hear the rudiment clearly. It then speeds up gradually, so that the student can hear the rudiment as it advances to lightning speed. Percussionisits need to learn how to warm up on the rudiments, beginning with the rudiment played correctly at a slower speed, and then advancing in speed as part of their daily warm up routine. This recording teaches this for the beginning through advanced levels.
Great for Blind and Visually Impaired Students
author: Derek M.A. AlexanderI am legally blind, and I purchased Coach Alexander's "Recommended Rudiments" so that our visually impaired students could use it for their music class program. The simple instructions and repetition make it easy to follow along. I recommend this guide for aspiring percussionists of all skill levels, sighted and visually impaired.
Great use for all levels of drummers!
author: Mickey GautneyIke's CD on basic rudiments is great and my beginning drummers have made good use of it. It works well with the beginner book that I use. This CD is also great for intermediate and advanced drummers as a "refresher".
Ike Alexander has created a CD that all music teachers can appreciate
author: Patrick WoodwardIke Alexander has created a CD that all music teachers can appreciate, and all percussionists will love. If you are not a professional percussionist, it can be fairly awkward to model all the rudiments, and rolls your students need to know. This CD gives your students that model, and allows them to practice what they hear. This CD is priceless, and is a great source for supplementary material to what is already being taught in the classroom.
This is the stuff!
author: John GouldThese are excellent rudiments for beginning-to-advanced drummers. So many CDs like this don't take the time to explain things in plain English, and this one does. My students at the Arkansas School for the Blind will be in good hands this year with Ike's CDs. Bravo!
Outstanding ! That's why we're having him do a two-day workshop in San Diego, CA
author: Sharletta RichardsonThis CD is so excellent that my principal is flying Ike Alexander to Gompers High School in San Deigo, CA to give a two-dy workshop (8/29&30/06) to our award-winning drum line ! It's so "user-friendly" and suitable for all ages !

This is a good way to teach young students about rudiments.
author: Terrence MaziqueI was happy to know that the cd helped students learn technique, speed, and the importance of practice.
Enjoyed by both student and educator.
author: Columbus YoungIt was enjoyed by the students and beneficial to me as an educator and it would help others as well to take advantage of it. Former educator at Alabama Inst. for deaf and blind
ten basic recommended rudiments gets an a+
author: byron weatherbyafter recieving a copy of the ten basic recommended rudiments i have further began to understand that drumming can be as simple as typing once you learn the basics and get them down you can learn to take those basics, combign them or use them in many different patterns to make a wonderful melody. also the bonus track puts all the movie "drumline" to shame. ike alexander is a very talented individual and one day with his cd helping me i hope to be close to as good as him. thanks ike

Attention band directors and students........
author: April Tolbert - Fayette, ALThis CD is matter of fact and to the point. It contains simple directions and super demonstrations! It will be a cinch to turn this CD on in band class for a clear and concise demonstration for my students as we arrive at various rudiments in our method book and during private instruction. This is a valuable tool for all band directors and students alike!

He's personaly played examples, give's the listner a clear and concise idea of the sticking technique. I recommend this Cd to all beginning drummers and to those who already play as a resource for themselves and their students. Director of Music, California School for the Blind
This is a great instructional for beginning drummers
author: Elton JacksonThis is cd has helped my young drum students acheive far and beyond the basics of drumming. I found that not only could they learn the fundamentals from me in band class, but also assisted them when they were at home. The instructions were simple and clear, it is like having a drum teacher at home. I recommend this cd to any band directors or anyone interested in learning how to play the drums. Its' great!!!

I purchased this cd for my 6 year old daughter. This CD reinforces what she learns during her drum lessons. She loves it because she can listen to the rudiments any time. It is definitely worth the money.
Very easy to follow and all natural. A real benefit and must if you want to impr
author: Alex JohnsenThis is the only natural lesson out there. The rest are machines and I just can't relate ... This is the BEST instructional CD you'll find if you want to make the drumline or just simply be the BEST!!! My 12 year old daughter was even able to learn from it and now she's ready for more. The instructions are simple, clear and straight to the point. I just want to be as good as Ike, he is precise and fast!
Great supplement for developing rudiment technique.
author: Doug AlbrittonGreat supplement for developing rudiment technique. A benefit in playing your percussion rudiments for the school band test or auditions.
Play the rudiments well and be an outstanding performing percussionist
author: George CorradinoThe information in this recording should be taught by every band director. It will train students to be very good all-around percussionists technically, and, they will know and understand what they are doing. These achieved skills will enable the student to read music and play well on all percussion instruments. A mimimum of 30 minutes a day in private practice following the instructions on the Alexander CD will make a marvelous musician. (also, practice on your leg seated during the warm-up of the wind instruments. This is bonus practice time and will not bother the band director). You will be among the best if you do this.
Great learning tool, with easy instructions
author: Mary MorganThis cd has given me a chance to become a percussionist without leaving my home for lessons. Rudiments are the key to becoming a skilled drummer and I'm on my way.
