The seventh Merck CD, delayed and released out of order due to its complexity and epic content, is finally available for purchase. Ilkae is composed of Aaron and Krystian, 16 and 19 years of age and representing from Canada and Poland respectively. Their musical style could best be described as a mangled pairing of video games, hip hop and electronic fuckery. Their youth is reflected on this 44 track, 64 minute adventure. A light hearted romp with most tracks remaining around one to two minutes in length. Served best on shuffle, or when you can't find your ritalin.

This CD is very cool

Great backgroud music that keeps you up and interested but doesn't distract from your work or conversation. I have already used this at a bookclub, a dinner party, and it is in constant rotation in lab. Smart music for quirky space generation. If I owned a swanky bar with multi-color drinks and 2001 decor, this would be playing.

45 tracks of glitchy bliss clocking in right around 64 minutes. These tasty morsels (so many tracks are named after food!) break, pop, fizz, traipse, and flit through a landscape of sweets, fruits, nuts and espresso drinks. A 16 year old from Canada and a 19 year old from Poland put the pieces together, and they must have had Boards of Canada, Plaid, and Aphex twin on the brain when they did. At only about a minute or two for each track, there may be no time to get comfortable, but that's kind of the beauty of it; each part is short and sweet and the record flows as seamlessly playing from track 1 to 45 as it does on shuffle. It was my soundtrack for a recent visit to Japan, and it was perfect for all the train rides and food experimentation. All that and it has about the best cover I've ever seen on a CD. Party. Bonus.
