notes

"L.A.'s finest since 2001", ILL AGAIN is the six-member Hip-Hop super-band currently making waves throughout the West Coast, winning fans over with their raw eclectic hip-hop live show, and now, their critically acclaimed self-titled CD. Yes, from the back packers to the gat clappers, and from the lovely birds to the ugly nerds, EVERYBODY (and their moms) loves ILL AGAIN!

Dedicated to resurrecting the era of when hip-hop meant skilled emcees spitting out spontaneous lyrics over intricate breakbeats, The award-winning Ill Again Family (Best Band "Kollaboration" at the Wilshire Ebell Theater, November 2002; and First Prize at Long Beach "Sound Providers", February 2003) is committed to mind and art elevation channeled through the six virtuoso branches of the family tree:

Drummer, Miles Senzaki;
Bassist, Jose Ramirez (of Arkestra Clandestina);
Guitarist, Dr. Daniel Ramirez;
Keyboardist/ Turntablist / Brass Section, Blue Kusaka;
Vocalist, Randall "Randruff" Park; and
Vocalist, Andrew "Ajax" Johnson.

With heavy funk, jazz, hip-hop, rock, Latin, and spoken word influences, Ill Again's positive message has been consistently heard throughout various Southern California venues for the better part of three years, most notably at Santa Monica's world-renowned Temple Bar, with the catch phrase "Tell A Friend!" hooking many a new listener into their ever-evolving musical world. "Even deaf people like us, because we're good to the eyes," says the skilled guitarist Dr. Daniel Ramirez, Hennessey in hand.

Ill Again completed its self-titled debut album in 2004- a critically and publicly acclaimed "soundtrack to the soul" which documents the beginnings of the band's sound, while giving their growing, devoted fanbase a taste of things to come. World domination? Perhaps. But for now, the Ill Again family is content with simply playing good music, and leaving masses of adoring fans in hysterics. Just take a listen...

    Have been a fan for years. Just reviewing it now is a shame because I believe they are a no longer together but a handful of them are reforming as the Novelists! Ok back to this album, one of my favorites, that I HAVE TO listen to from time to time. It's definitely a regular on my playlist. It's simply really good old school hip hop. None of the new crap you hear. And coming from someone that hardly listens to lyrics, GREAT FUN lyrics. Everyone I've recommended listen to Ill Again has loved them. I wish there was more!!

  • Dick and I groove to this album

    This CD is dope. Dick Cheney was jamming to it after he got his last heart attack. I listen to it in my iPod when Rummy tries to give the the latest scoop on Iraq. I give it two thumbs up! In fact, it's awesome! It's so awesome that I'm gonna make up a word: awesome-olio-ography.

    Ill Again is creative, talented, and witty. I rarely find hip hop artists/groups who have excellent lyrics AND music. Every song is a mind-blowing eargasm. Thank you, guys! I love your music, and I can't wait for your next live show and new album.

    Wow, this is a wonderful, uniquly, creative CD album! *whoo, lots of adjectives!* Randall Park, aka "Randruff," is an absolutley amazing rapper/singer. Man, this guy can do almost anything. He's an actor, singer...i think he's even an artist..who knows what else! The band has a nice blend of ryhtems and beats to make your foot taps along. The main vocals and jazz backup makes this an excellant blend of music to listen to where-ever. With fun lyrics and a upbeat rythems, don't pass this one up!

    I bought the CD on a dare (it was a double-dog dare), and dreaded listening to it. I put it in a box when I got home and forgot about it. One night, I was cleaning out my basement and ran across the Ill Again Self Titled CD stuck in between a dead bat and some spiderwebs, and played it in the 1989 Discman I put down there (so old, it had no skip protection!) and some crusty old headphones that had gum stuck in the left ear. I don't know why I slept on it so long, but damn! Listening to it for the first time, in my basement, I started dancing. Not country line dancing, but I mean DANCING all bootyshake-like! I accidently knocked over some deer antlers I was looking for as part of my house redecorating, but no matter! I was funkdified! But now I have gum in my left ear. DAMN YOU!

    author: Allan

    REALLY dig the CD! I've seen your live show a couple times too And you guys are always incredible. wish some of the interludes songs were longer though because there really dope!

  • miles senzaki is hotter than the drum he plays!
    author: kristina

    wow, now i know it's a cd and you can't see them play, but those drums are amazing. it's that miles senzaki character, he smothers those drumsticks with pure sexuality. i don't know what the brother looks like, but from his drum playing alone i will tell you-- he ain't no troll!

  • This is great...
    author: Kevin Chan

    Heck I'd give it five... a friend of mine knows one of you guys... so he let me hear the CD today it is so good... There is some "language"... but who cares... you just need to be mature and suck it up... haha.. but I still think this is a great band and CD... I love "next!" and "B'ding"... good luck with you guys...

  • yummy in my tummy

    I too have been waiting for the full-length album release for a long time now...and it's everything I've dream of and more!! haaha! no but for real this album is off tha chain, it's so upbeat and inspirational, not to mention being fun at the same time. what a combo! the instrumental interludes were wonderful, great job guys! my friends and fam who I forced this album upon have simply loved it. must cop this album ya herd!

  • Highly anticipated, finally duplicated (on CD)
    author: Shozo

    After being teased with a 4-song EP about 2 years ago, I was starting to doubt if this CD would ever drop... and now, it's finally here!!! I wanted to go to the release show, but was busy, so I'm glad I can order it here. My only complaint is that no matter how good the recording is, it can't match the energy & enthusiasm of the live shows... you guys should make a live show DVD!!! PS Miles is my hero!!!
