The Slim band is a "meat and potatoes" kind of band. The band plays BLUES and almost nothing but the BLUES. But make no mistake about the brand of blues; this is toe tapping, hip swinging, boogie blues, with just a sprinkling of "cry in your coffee" blues.
The band has shared the stage with national recording artists such as Michael Burks, Lurrie Bell, Matthew Scholer, and Nick Moss & The Flip Tops and Little Jimmy Reed. Slim has appeared onstage as a guest vocalist with the Carey Bell Band.
In addition to Slim the musicians on this CD include Sarah Ayers (on duet and background vocals), Mike Mettalia (on harmonica and vocals), Chuck Hearne and Doug Brown on Bass, Don Plowman and Dawn Dengler on Drums and Chicago area blues scene veteran "Chicago" Carl Snyder (on keyboards, rhythm guitar and background vocals). These gifted professionals share Slim's vision and pursuit of that authentic Chicago style blues sound. However, astute blues fans will note that Slim is an evolving artist with his own ideas. This will become evident when listening to this and his earlier release "Born Into The Blues".
The Mason-dixon Blues Association had this to say:
"A native of Chicago, Slim lays down a batch of Blues, Soul and R&B that will keep your toes tapping all night. The 2nd Time Around is full of variety containing originals and one cover tune. The CD is full of up tempo stomps, funky grooves, R&B Rockers and some nice shuffles. Special guest young Eric Steckel lends his guitar stylings to two tracks and Chicago Carl (Keys) and Mike Mettalia (Harp) can be found on the majority of tracks. This is the second release in the past two years from Slim and deffinately won't be the last. Slim is the next up and coming Blues artist to watch." ~ Mason-Dixon Blues Association
