Album Notes

"as soon as I pressed play, I was blown away."

"In the end, Ill Poetic's The World Is Ours is an experience in Hip-Hop that I recommend everyone should listen to."

"He breaks down the wall or boredom that most people perceive Underground Hip-Hop to be, and brings us a soulful, nearly classic album, with very few missteps."

"Showcasing skillful craftsmanship in both constructing dynamic beats along with thoughtful lyrics, Poetic almost single-handedly carries his newest LP "The World is Ours" to an elevated height of freshness. Tony D, hold ya head."

"mixing nuanced and sober observations about the city and Hip Hop with straight-up dope wordplay."

"Ill Poetic continues in this tradition valiantly, showcasing both unashamed individualism and universal dopeness. The only debate you'll have here is a welcome one: what's hotter, his beats or his rhymes?"

"unique, daring, and intelligent."

"The rhymes are fresh and smart, straight from the streets and the library."

At an early age Ill poetic was making pause tapes and elemetary beats on his childhood keyboard. Eventually leading to his start in freestyling and battling.

In 1997 Ill Poetic met Dean Hummons, Jr. (known to you all as “Young Zone”) the two became quick friends and began thier hip-hop career as Definition, bringing Ill Poetic to begin producing his own music.

After battling at U.C.s campus and Top Cats in Cincinnati Ill Poetic started expanding to such events as Midwest Supremacy Battle (won in ’02), Battlegrounds (won in ’03), and scribble jam (top 8 in ’03). Ill Poetic and Young Zone continued to rock shows everywhere from the Midwest to New York, from Midpoint Music Festivals, to Scribble Jam, to Mobile Skate Park Conventions. Alongside such acts as Talib Kweli, Chuck D, Little Brother, Blueprint, Illogic, Tanya Morgan, Lone Catalysts, and Killer Mike.

In 2004-05 Ill Poetic released his first solo album "Illumination" as well as the Beyond 12" produced by DJ Fame, and featuring King Solomon and Piakhan. His next offering, “The World is Ours”, will be coming out in 2007 as he works with Illogic on a collaboration effort the two have begun for a possible late 07 early 08 release. You can catch his verses or production on upcoming projects by Young Zone, Punchline, Wordsworth, Piakhan, Main Flow, Blueprint, Blitz, Approach, Mac Lethal, and many, many more…
