Album Notes

"Beautiful swinging sounds."
One bebop loving finger-style guitarist and his swinging jazz computer make up the Imaginary Trio.

In this first release from the Imaginary Trio, the trio takes on re-arranging eight traditional christmas songs for swinging down to mid tempo instrumental jazz. John Isaac Phinney's finger-style guitar solo's flow and meander following fanciful tangents with a bebop flavor. Pure imagination at play. His influences are obviously the great bebop era horn players like Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Stan Getz and Charlie Parker. Many of the arrangements have a time signature change at the heart of the interpretation, a la Coltrane's rendition of "My Favorite Things". The drums and bass were done using the standard version of Apple's Garageband software that ships with all their computers, and they sound incredibly real, extrememly clean and locked in tight. This album would be great background music for your holiday cocktail party. Bring the Imaginary Trio to your next Holiday gathering, get it here!!
