M'tafiti(seeker of knowledge) has performed in Europe, Africa, Brazil, and through-out the U.S. and composed for a wide-range of musical medium - including dance, choral, and opera - as well as for traditional "jazz" settings. This debut recording brings together, and challenges the improvisational chops of some of the finest San Diego area musicians. Dr. Imara is also a professor of music at California State University San Marcos. He can also be heard on recordings by: Kamau Seitu, Terence Elliott, Teryl Saunders, and Don Moors.

The perfect saxophonist for this or any millennium!

My favorite living saxophonist does it again. Mtafiti plays soprano, tenor, flute and occasionally alto with such soul and fervor that you can't help but be moved by this CD. A beautiful example of a spiritual being connecting with his audience. And he plays his butt off, too.
