Album Notes

The music of Immigrant's Daughter evokes the magic of Ireland, Scotland, and the British Isles, as performed on harp, flute, and fiddle. The band plays rousing jigs and reels, and will enchant you with its soulful airs and waltzes. Immigrant's Daughter strives to express the musical traditions of their immigrant forebears, combining them with their American heritage and classical backgrounds to create their own unique blend of music.

Ann Borden is a music graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts. She plays the Celtic harp and creates innovative ways to accompany and enliven the music. She teaches both traditional and classic harp in her private studio in Greensboro, NC. In 1986 she won the national Clarsach (Scottish Harp) competition in Alexandria, VA and is the official harper of Clan Rose in the United States.

Sharon Fogarty is also a music graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts. She pays tribute to her Irish heritage with her whistles, and her silver and Irish flutes. She teaches them at the North Carolina Community Music School and also maintains a home studio in Winston-Salem, NC. She has performed with the Silver Winds Flute Choir and is a Principle piccolo player for the Piedmont Wind Symphony.

Nora Garver blends the warmth of the Scottish fiddle with Irish and American influences. She studied classical violin through grade school and spent two full years at Interlochen Arts Academy as a violin major. She teaches Scottish fiddle in Winston-Salem, NC, and plays in the Scottish Country Dance band, "Controlled Abandon". She also directs the "Triad Scottish Fiddlers and Friends", a music club which meets monthly.
