My obsession with song-poetry was recently re-ignited by the DVD release of Off The Charts, which is easily the most entertaining documentary I've seen since the original "Dancing Outlaw." 

I can't seem to get enough of gary forney's Iowa Mountain Tour Website. I've been listening to his "Chicken Insurrection" CD nonstop since December and it's quickly becoming my all-time favorite album.

How do you describe this music?  Musically, it's all over the map! (But here, that's a good thing!) It's not blues, but it's bluesy, it's not country, but it's country-tinged, it's not folk, but it's folk-ish, it's not novelty, but some songs will make you laugh. I guess instead of telling you what it's not, I'll tell you what it is - it's some of the best darn music you've probably never heard before.  It cuts a wide path from gamut to gamut, but what is predomenant is the tremendous writing talent of Mr. Gary Forney, a man who will not be pigeon-holed into any one genre.  These songs are full of life experiences, and each tells a story unto itself, not the standard "ooh, ohh, I love you" pap! If you know Gary from the movie "Off The Charts", perepare to be surprised becasue this collection will blow you away.  Leave your expectations at the door and listen to this mini masterpiece.  
The most played CD in my 5000 + collection, plus mine is autographed so nyeah-nyeah to the rest of you!  (lol)

It's been awhile since we had an Outlaw who shot from the hip with no holes barred. This CD is maddeningly brilliant. The first time we heard Cemetary Radio we were blown away, and it's in two parts! We continue to hear it other places where we weren't really sure it was there or not. Insane and brilliant.
