Album Notes

Ina Sanfilippo, virtuoso concert cimbalist, graduated from the Belorussian Academy of Music in Minsk.

The cimbalom or hammer dulcimer is often known as a Balkan or Hungarian instrument. Ina Sanfilippo plays it in a very different style. She interprets Belorussian and Finnish waltzes and polskas and Slavonic Gypsy romances. The sound is clear, beautiful and musically exact. Susan Aho (of the famous Finnish band \"Värttinä\") and German bass player Fritz Krisse accompany with great talent adapting to the atmosphere of the main instrument and creating a lively swing. All musicians on this CD play with great skill and enthusiasm!

Cimbal Impressions appears in the GMRS/Great Music & Rare Sounds series created by Rick Abao. GMRS is an exeptional collection of world music that captures the folk style as well as the fusion.
