BIO

Incendio in both Italian and Spanish means "fire" and this moniker is fitting for a musical group whose sound is all about energy, exploration, and passion. At the heart of Incendio's sound is the Latin or Spanish guitar which can conjure up romantic as well as powerful and bold images.

The core group, made up of Jim Stubblefield (guitar), Jean-Pierre Durand (guitar/guitar synthesizer) and Liza Carbe' (bass), refers to their music as "Latin Guitar World Fusion" which yields to the listener a strong mix of songcraft and improvisation couched in a variety of musical contexts.

REVIEWS OF INCENDIO'S RECORDINGS:

"Jim Stubblefield's lyrical and passionate guitar artistry takes the center stage of MISTERIOSO, a spicy blend of world music featuring rumba flamenco and Middle Eastern influences. Spanish, South American, and Northern African influences contribute to the rich texture of Incendio's sound..." - New Age Voice Magazine, Atlanta, GA

"There is enough talent and high quality musicianship in INCENDIO to make this group worth watching..." - Sing Out!

"If you have more than a passing interest in the genre, (ILLUMINATION) is sure to be in your all time top ten... Hot." - Midwest Record Recap

"ILLUMINATION. 4.5 out of 5 stars!" - All Music Guide

"INCENDIO'S debut, MISTERIOSO, is driven to varied-tempo levels of exotica and energetic excitement by the Strunz & Farah-like dual-guitar interaction of leader Jim Stubblefield and Jean-Pierre Durand. The two are certainly capable of those astounding, lightning quick passages that sound like dueling bumble bees." - Jonathan Widran, JAZZIZ Magazine

"INCENDIO ... takes a nouveau flamenco base a la Ottmar Liebert or Strunz & Farah, then adds a healthy dose of 21st Century beats, stretches of improvisation, and some exotic synth sounds that add to the World Beat element. The world's first nouveau flamenco jam band?" - Tucson Weekly, Tucson, AZ

The combined work of Jim Stubblefield, J.P., and Liza Carbe is not only wonderful, it stands head and shoulders above much of what is out there in the world music scene. Passionate and firey, envoking and true to its name Misterioso is a must have CD.

This debut CD from Incendio is amazing. If you enjoy *any* type of guitar-oriented music, you'll love the progressive flamenco style that they have crafted. If you have the chance to catch them live, do so. The live performances are even better sicne you can actually say "Hi" the them and they appreciate that fact that your are part of thier audience. They are also able to exhibit the fire and skill that makes this CD sound so good! I've seen them live at lest 20-25 times at local gigs in southern California (originally as The Jim Stubblefield Group, and now as Incendio) and I am always impressed with the band. 5 stars all the way!

....first rate....

If you enjoy nuevo flamenco style guitar playing or ever wished that Ottmar Liebert had a bit more heat and spice, this is definitely a CD worth listening to. The guitar playing is first rate and it is accentuated even further by upbeat arrangements and a great blend of varying instrumentation with harmonies that are absolutely incredible. Incendio's emphasis may be on the guitar, but they recognize the importance of the overall sound of their recordings. From flamenco guitar to strings to percussion, this recording has it all and then some. A first rate debut.
