Album Notes

The Porchlight EP by inchWORM is one of the finest examples of what people imagine when they think of "the Chicago sound." It's urban, but still approachable. Honest, yet not "emo". A way to think of the Porchlight EP is psychedelic roots-rock. The feeling of being in the room with the band is unmistakable even while layers of ambient noises build around you.

Recorded at Jay Bennett's (former WILCO) Pieholden Suite Sound, the Porchlight EP was recorded to analog tape and was heavily reliant upon Bennett's collection of vintage gear; resulting in the creation of a "vintage vibe" often lost in most modern recordings. Comparisons can be made to bands such as: Sparklehorse, My Morning Jacket, Wilco, Secret Machines, Grandaddy, Pink Floyd, or even the Beatles.

The point is this; bands like inchWORM don't come around often enough. With two songwriters driving the creation of the music, every song ends up well written and full of ideas, while still retaining the pop sensibilities that make listening to inchWORM a pleasurable experience and one that won't be quickly forgotten.

Really Cool EP / Good Songs / Good Sounds
author: John L.
This is a real good EP with a lot of character and vibe. I was impressed when I first listened to it and it's gotten better the deeper I get into it. It's got a real vintage feel with both the songwriting and the instruments and effects. Classic sounding organs, Excellent sounding guitars, cool harmonies, and interesting lyrics. One of the best local band outputs in Chicago I've heard in quite awhile. Check this EP out, you won't regret it.
