Album Notes

Songs by Patricia Williams and friends of Project Independence: Women Survivors of War

Profits from the Sale of this CD will go to Project Independence: Women Survivors of War--a partnered project between Soroptimist International and Women for Women International.

The inspiration for this CD came from the women survivors of war in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Rwanda who are daily working to overcome the tragedy and consequences of war and through this project become self sufficient and contribute to their families and their communities. This music is dedicated to all of the heroines and heros who survive struggles in their lives and those that support the survivors through their advocacy and action.

Comes the time to set aside all the ways our faiths divide us
To embrace a concept common to us all:
That whatever be His name, His banner bids us to proclaim
Peace and justice, and safety from the fall

Chorus: Let it ring (for the lost and lonely)
Let it ring (for the unforgotten)
Let it ring (for the ones who pray, let)
Freedom ring

Every Hindu, Jain or Jew; every Sikh and Muslim, too,
Hears the harmony of peace call out his name
Every Christian hears the call to the God, God of us all:
Lord, please answer us and help us, help us all

Chorus

I’ve been waiting, I’ve been hoping, I’ve been praying, too...

Inside my heart, behind my veil, inside my secret life,
I hide my fears, I hold my dreams, I know I will survive.

Chorus (with Chant)

Chant: For our sons who left to save us
for the ones who never came back
For our children silent and afraid

For our husbands far away now
for our mothers, living memories
For our sisters holding, holding on.

For a day that dawns in justice
for our country undivided
For our loved ones finally coming home

For a world that loves our children
Sisters, join in celebration
For the land we love, let freedom ring!

Chorus: Let it ring, let it ring, let it ring, freedom ring.
