Album Notes

The Indigo Project is an evocation of optimistic melancholy. The cd, 'Dancing in the Ashes' is a collection of very haunting and musically rich songs that take the listener through a diverse spectrum of sound experience. With a voice like an angel, and the backing of a truly talented group of musicians, Rachael Indigo sings sweet poetry. The lyrics explore humanity in a way that makes even the posing hipster pause. The classical violinist playing on four of the nine tracks hypnoticly weaves the listener into the story, finding beauty amidst the train wreck that our lives can become. The piano and dirty guitar add a precise flavor to the finger style acoustic melodies, creating a very full sound. The musical styles merge classical, celtic, latin and americana with an integrity and precision that is artful, and artfully delivered.

May the sunshine take root in our souls.

A very haunting sound, but calming and powerful
author: JFIG
A very good album. As stated above, this album has a very haunting sound, but it is still very calming. The acoustic guitars and violin make for a very soothing environment and the mild distortion is done with the utmost taste. The lead guitar is often replaced by the lead vocals and at times it can seem like being at a cafe and hearing a poet reciting (in this case) her work. Highly recommended if you like a near folk-with-a-mix-of-blues sound and need a break from metal or rock.
