Album Notes

Northwestern Canada’s Indio Saravanja has released the
highly anticipated follow up to his first album.
Entitled The Caravan Sessions, and released on his new label Del Norte
Records, this 10 song folk and roots album was self-recorded and produced
by Indio at Canada's famous Caravan Farm Theatre in Armstrong BC in the
winter of 2008-09 and shows, once again, why Greg Quill of the Toronto Star
has called him
"a poet of the finest water, a keen observer with finely attuned literary
sensibilities and a thinker of considerable substance....'
While sharing the definitive tradition of classic songwriting in the vein of
Townes Van Zandt, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young with his 2005 highly
acclaimed debut, (Indio Saravanja- Caribou Records), this second album
finds Indio playing most instruments himself and stripping his alchemical
sound down further, in favor of a lighter and leaner production without the
sometimes overt rock tones found on his first album and a more
unencumbered indie-folk feel, sounding more uniquely like himself than ever
while once again tackling the personal and universal struggles of modern life,
love, loss, and necessary hope. As a note of special importance to Indio, the
album was miraculously mostly funded by pre-paying fans in a fundraising
campaign that gives the albumʼs creation during a global recession a unique
side story. Further instrumentation on the record has been provided by
friends like Pat Steward (drums-The New Odds), John Ellis (pedal steel-
Barney Bentall), and Daniel Lapp (fiddle, trumpet,-Rickie Lee Jones).

It's been four years since Indio published his debut record "Indio Saravanja" but it's been well worth the time. Indio Saravanja is such a heartfelt songwriter and multi-instrumentalist providing excellent songs: why isn't he rich and famous? This record definitely belongs into my top 10 of 2009 and it makes me long for more: I don't want to wait another four years for the next record. Keep up the good work, Indio!
