Album Notes

Indulis SUNA was born in Riga in 1950 and he first studied violin at the Music School and College in Jelgava.
Indulis continued his studies at the J. Vitols Latvian State Conservatory in Riga, where he received his BA and MM degrees. From 1979 to 1982 I. Suna completed his post graduate course at the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory with Prof. Dm. M. Tziganov.
Between 1979 and 1982 Indulis Suna was the first violinist of the Latvian State String Quartet and a soloist of the Latvian State Concert Organization as well as held a violin teaching position at the J. Vitols Latvian State Conservatory in Riga.
He has performed and recorded 18 of world premiere compositions including 2nd String Quartet by P. Vasks, works by I. Zemzaris and E. Goldsteins, A. Grinups, M. Einfelde and A. Levkovich. Many composers have dedicated their works to the violinist.
Since 1991 Indulis Suna and his family reside in Canada. Together with his wife, pianist Ilga Suna, he has recorded and released 16 CDs with different programs and in different styles.
For the last 15 years these recordings have been broadcasted all over the world by Latvian State Radio, Radio Budapest, BBC and CBC radio.
