Album Notes

Despite the name In Elvis Garage is neither about Elvis Presley nor about garage rock. However, as the name suggests, there is an American connection. Their music is very much indebted to American pop acts like The Shins and The New Pornographers. The band started as a spin-off to Swedish punk rock outfit Myron´s Girlfriend as a way for singer/guitarist Andreas Körsell to explore his love for the pure pop song with dazzling melodies and vocal harmonies. The side project soon became the main project. A steady line-up was formed with brother Pär Körsell on bass and Olof Jernryd on drums. After playing several live shows their early recordings got good reviews alongside bands like Peter Bjorn and John and Ronderlin. However the brothers’ constant fighting put a strain on the band and lead to an involuntary break. After getting a deal with a Japanese record label In Elvis Garage started recording their debut album with producer Jens Lindgård (Franz Ferdinand, Ok Go) and from the bouncy opener “Dazed and Distraught” to the more retro sounds of the closing “A Long d in Tenderville” the band delivers an album loaded with hooks, harmonies and energy. The album’s title refers to old childhood tapes of the brothers playing games and fighting.
