Album Notes

In a world plagued with excessive talking heads, sour grapes and bad news, people need something positive in their lives to keep the dark clouds at bay. Roots-Reggae outfit Inna Vision seeks to provide that little bit of sunlight with their old-school brand of tunes. “Weʼre in a vision of spreading our music and message to the world and promoting the positive lifestyle that we sing about, represent and live,” says Koa Lopes.

Inna Vision hails from the island of Maui, HI and consists of Lopes, Cody Nemet, Ben Arcangel, Jason Arcangel, Jason Pokipala, Kyle Arakawa and Calvin Canha. The group was formed by Lopes and Nemet in 2005 when they realized they needed a full band to perform the body of songs they’d written and recorded. Inna Vision grew from a duo to a seven-piece eventually becoming what it is today: a dynamic, eclectic Roots-Reggae outfit.

Inna Vision released its debut album, Music On My Mind, in August 2008. The album is a collection of songs that focus on Reggae’s original Jamaican sound and avoids the trappings of more modern Jamaican sub-genres such as Dancehall and Reggaeton.

“Most people stereotype or think of Reggae from Hawaii as a bubbly imitation or not authentic compared to its original foundational Reggae of Jamaica,” says Koa. “We are one of the first bands out of Hawaii to change that and start the movement of real, pure and original reggae in our own style and fashion.”

The group’s music focuses on themes of positivity, love and consciousness with an emphasis on stories of the everyday struggles and scenarios everyone faces. Some influences that can be heard throughout their tunes include the Marley family, Steel Pulse, old-school Aswad, Bamboo Station and many others.

Inna Vision will be touring the continental United States later this year.
